700 horsepower. 553 pound-feet of torque. And a reported top speed of 208 miles per hour on the Nürburgring.

With numbers like these, it’s no surprise that Porsche chose the Goodwood Festival of Speed to debut its newest near-motorsport GT model, the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The high-performance sports car is the fastest and most powerful road-approved 911 ever, and it’s setting a new bar for a generation of imitators to come.

Porsche Silver Spring has more details on it for you here.

Innovative engineering enhancements

The 911 GT2 RS is powered by an expertly designed biturbo engine that cranks out 80 more hp than the previous generation. A new water spray-cooled intercooler helps the engine handle all that extra power. The 2018 model also features a GT first with a Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transferring power to the massive rear wheels. Porsche lifted the suspension from the 911 Cup car for impressive spring rates, and the exclusive Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires come standard.

Did you lose weight?

Engineers focused on lightening the vehicle’s overall weight with carbon fiber wheel housing vents, air intakes, and mirror shells, and the motorsport chassis guarantees a full-fledged rear-wheel driving experience that’s the closest you can get to a race without hitting the track. There’s also an optional Weissach package that further improves the weight-to-power ratio with lighter components made from carbon and magnesium.

Unparalleled Porsche performance arriving early next year

At the time of this writing, Porsche had not yet submitted the GT2 RS for an official lap at the Nürburgring. However, former Formula one racer and current Porsche partner Mark Webber told Canada’s Driving.ca that he hit “336 kilometers an hour in this car, in the Nürburgring, on the back straight," or an equivalent of 208 miles per hour. If these numbers hold up, the 911 GT2 RS should easily best the track record of 6:52.01 recently set by the Lamborghini Huracán Performante.

The 911 GT2 RS is expected to arrive at Porsche Silver Spring early next year. Call or contact us online to stay tuned for ordering details and other information.
