Porsche Unveils New Hybrid Panamera Model

In the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, there's finally a hybrid for the enthusiast

Often, the words "hybrid car" bring to mind images of bland, fuel-sipping vehicles that offer meager acceleration. The average hybrid may save you money, but fuel economy and exhilaration tend not to go hand in hand. Until now, anyway. Porsche unveiled the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid at this year's Paris Motor Show, and the team at Porsche Silver Spring is extremely excited about it because Porsche drivers will no longer be forced to choose between sustainability and performance.

With the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, you really can have your cake and eat it, too. In fact, it's the plug-in hybrid's electric motor that allows it to deliver incredible horsepower and torque as soon as the driver steps on the pedal. In its predecessor, the driver had to press the pedal 80% of the way down to get the additional oomph of the electric motor, but that's no longer the case.

Now, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is able to add the full 136 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque of its electric motor to its 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 gas-powered engine (which offers 330 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque) as soon as you need it. Add in its electric clutch actuator (ECA) and its fast-shifting Porsche eight-speed Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, and its easy to see how "E-Performance" could be the way of the future when it comes to performance vehicles. After all, who doesn't want more power, more fun, and less fuel consumption?
