Habits for Better Productivity

If you’re struggling to deal with a list of mundane tasks and struggle to stay engaged while you’re working, you may be tempted to step away from your duties. Many of the things we have to do each day aren’t very exciting, which can cause our minds to wander and our productivity to lag behind schedule. We have some habits that can help you cross everything off your list and get back to doing the things you’re more excited about.

Use a Website Blocker

If you find your mind straying to the latest news, social media, or online shopping site, it’s good practice to implement a website blocker. These apps can block the websites you tend to use as a distraction from tasks. If you go to a website mindlessly to waste time, it will be blocked and serve as a gentle reminder to stay on task.

Break Down Large Projects

Large projects can feel daunting, and sometimes starting is the most difficult part. Rather than thinking of tackling the entire task, break it down into smaller steps. These easier-to-complete steps can be your roadmap to finishing a large task without feeling overwhelmed or directionless.

Make a To-Do List

For many people, getting things done can be as simple as remembering all the tasks. For others, it can help to write down a list on paper and rank each task from highest to lowest importance. Start with the most important tasks first and then work down the list from there. Physically marking out each task can also help you feel more accomplished.

Put Your Phone Away

Your smartphone can serve as an easy distraction, just like websites. Try putting your phone in another room or using it as a timer to monitor time spent on tasks. When you pick it up, you will see the timer and be reminded to stay on task. Putting your phone on silent or in airplane mode can also help limit distractions.

Organize Your Workspace

A cluttered workspace can be a massive distraction when you’re trying to focus on major tasks. If you have control over your workspace (such as a home office) decorate it in ways that inspire you without being too bold. This can differ for many people, as our ideal work environment is dependent on our minds. Consider what will be the best for you. Even if you can’t control the environment, eliminating clutter and dirt can help you stay focused.

Try the Pomodoro Method

If you struggle to work on the same task for too long, or often feel burnt out after a day of work, the Pomodoro Method might help. Using this method, you do 25 minutes of focused work and take a five-minute break. After repeating this 25/5 cycle four times, you take a longer, 20-minute break. During these breaks, you can tackle other tasks, enjoy a snack, or go for a quick walk.

We hope some of these tips help you become more productive during your daily tasks. If your vehicle is your office, we have some amazing new models in our inventory that might help you accomplish more. With technology features like Wi-Fi and driver assistance features to keep you safe on the road.
