Porsche Celebrates One Millionth 911 Model

The Porsche brand has earned its place in the pantheon of luxury sports cars since its first 911 rolled off the line in 1963. Recently, the automaker celebrated its heritage and reputation for excellence with the production of its one millionth 911 model. An Irish Green exterior paint, houndstooth trim, part-wooden steering wheel, and chrome accents honor the first production model, though the power under the hood follows current production standards, highlighting just how far the 911 has come.

In 1963, the 911 harnessed a considerable 128 horses. Today, the base 2017 911 Carrera produces 370 horsepower. With the advancement of technology, the current 911 is also able to fly from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, a feat that likely would have stunned everyone when the model first debuted. But Porsche is always searching for ways to provide more luxury and power, and the brand’s efforts are clear when comparing today’s lineup to the original models.
