Porsche Macan GTS Delivers an Uncommon Level of SUV Performance
The Porsche Macan GTS is the kind of captivating crossover that only Porsche could create. Taking the well-received Macan SUV as its base, the Macan GTS ups the ante with a variety of power and performance upgrades. The result is a one-of-a-kind ride that just might bring a smile back to your daily commute.
The engine in the Macan GTS is based on the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 in the Macan S. However, Porsche engineers have dialed up the excitement with a number of hardware changes and a clever engine calibration that delivers 360 horsepower and 369 pounds-feet of torque.
All-wheel drive comes standard, of course. So does the automaker’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system. Smarter than the average powertrain, this package can variably engage the front axle depending on your specific traction needs.
The Macan GTS boasts a recalibrated suspension to go along with that extra power. The model rides 10 millimeters lower than the Macan Turbo and features retooled Stability Management and standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The innovative system offers adjustable ride height to accommodate almost any adventure, on-road or off.
Porsche has given the new model the GTS makeover inside and out with the customary black exterior accents and GTS logos. In particular, we’re fans of the fashionable and functional 20” RS Spyder Design wheels, finished in Satin Black. The standard GTS sport seats feature standard leather and Alcantara® seat centers. If you choose to go with the tempting GTS interior package, you’ll get a Carmine Red tachometer along with deviated stitching, seat belts, and embroidered GTS logos.
Since this is a Porsche, there’s plenty of technology to play with in the latest Macan variant. The standard PCM (Porsche Communication Management system) incorporates Sound Package Plus and eight speakers for a satisfyingly full sound, plus Bluetooth capability and satellite radio. A hard-drive based navigation module is optional and can be paired with available Porsche Connect Plus for even more connectivity convenience.
